About

When it snows I cook a feast. It has been something I have been doing since I was a sophomore in college. During one particular snowy weekend I decided to start this blog. I have always gotten such great responses about my cooking so I decided to start sharing my cooking with the world. I am not a chef. I am just a home cook who once in the blue moon creates her own recipe but usually adapts other’s recipes to fit my likes. I am self taught with a little help from my mother and grandmother. I cook to heal. By day I am a social worker (well almost two more months and I have my masters degree). To deal with my day job and the horror stories I hear everyday I turned to cooking to be my self care. I put a lot of love into my cooking. The purpose of this blog is to share my daily cooking with my friends, family and the world. I don’t cook every night, the boyfriend does some nights and we eat out or order in some other nights. I plan on sharing those experiences with you as well. Enjoy!

Nicole, this looks great! I’m so proud of this blog. The pictures are beautiful too.

Good job, Nicole! Keep it up!

Food is absolutely therapy! My boyfriend is a social worker who works with the homeless mentally ill … horror stories abound, but so do fairy tales that come completely out of the blue. Your project sounds a lot like mine — share the experience of the food, no matter where it comes from!

  4. Hi Nicole – I’m Nicole too! Or Coley in the blogger world. I don’t usually leave multiple comments on one blog, but I’m really drawn to yours. I, like you, created my blog as a place to share my creations/recipes with family and friends and have since become addicted! Congrats on a site with dishes that have real appeal

Do you by any chance live in the D.C. area?

Hmmm, these are speaking to me.

@Yenta Mary, thanks for sharing. It is the fairy tales that make it worth it. Enjoy your site!

@Coley thanks for the comments and appreciation.

@Holly I live in NYC but I love DC!

I’m also a person who finds it therapeutic (and sometimes counter-therapeutic) to cook. Great site with easy-to-follow instructions and EXCELLENT pictures. Thank you for taking your time to share with us. I was drooling all over myself reading the recipes. Should I see a doctor about that? LOL!

    Happy 1-Year Blogoversary!!!

Your food and the love you put into it is one of my favorite college memories :) I still tell people how you used to cook a pot of sauce all day, every Friday and how you taught us to make gnocchi from scratch during that epic snow feast.

You are the real deal lady! Congratulations on ALL of your accomplishments this last year!!!

Nicole, you are awesome! I looked at your site a while ago and just got back to it again. The recipes look amazing and I have found several that I want to try. I told Alex about our snow day feast and it literally brought tears to my eyes when I read the opening of your about me section. I will always remember that day! It looks like your cooking is really taking off and I am proud of you! Keep it up and know that you can come cook for us anytime!!! :-)
